2011 NFL Mock Draft: Making A Case For Von Miller Over Cam Newton For The Buffalo Bills

Written by Rob on .

Many draft gurus around the league have the Buffalo Bills tied to either Auburn quarterback Cam Newton or Texas A&M defensive end/outside linebacker Von Miller.

With the 2011 NFL draft approaching quickly, the Bills can't afford to miss on the No. 3 overall pick. The last time they picked that high, the Bills selected defensive end/outside linebacker Bruce Smith, who currently holds the record for career sacks with over 200.

Assuming the Carolina Panthers don't select Cam Newton, he will be on the board when the Bills are on the clock. no comments

2011 NFL Draft: Patrick Peterson The Better Pick For Buffalo Bills Over Von Miller

Written by Rob on .

Patrick-Peterson

The 2011 NFL Draft is a week away, and every mock draft around the web has the Buffalo Bills selecting Von Miller, Texas A&M pass rushing linebacker with their No. 3 overall pick.

There is no question that Miller is an intriguing prospect, considering his collegiate production that resulted in 33 sacks and 50.5 tackles for a loss.

However, Patrick Peterson, cornerback out of Louisiana State, is considered by many to be the best overall prospect in the draft. no comments

Madden '12 Leaks New Bills Uniforms

Written by Scott Michalak on .

Oopsy.

According to Tim Graham over at ESPN, the new Bills uniforms have indeed been leaked to the public via a promotional video for Madden '12.

The unis are an homage to the threads the Bills wore from 1975 to 1983, and bear a striking resemblance in color scheme to the "Nike Leak" discussed on buffalo74 earlier.

The promo has since been pulled from the Madden website, and all evidence of it has disappeared from Youtube - but in this modern age, nothing ever is truly deleted.

Go Bills.

The hype is finally over! Part 3

3)Trading down: Honestly, I could have very easily put this at the top of the list. I'm a HUGE fan of trading down. As far as I'm concerned, if your team has a ton of a holes, it would make sense to try and get as many picks as possible. So, what could the Bills get with the 3rd pick? Well, when the Jets swapped picks with the Browns two years ago (17th for the 5th), Cleveland got the Jets 2nd round pick. I don't know about you, but getting 3 picks within the first 50 selections would be quite an accomplishment. no comments

4) The Bills select Patrick Peterson: I know there is a large number of fans who would probably boo the crap out of this pick, like Philly fans did when McNabb was selected. "Oh, gees! Another stupid defensive back!?" Yes, the Bills have a thing with selecting players for the secondary, as they have selected 8 defensive backs in the first round since 1991. However, the biggest difference between Peterson and someone like James Williams or Thomas Smith, is that everyone is hyping the crap out of this guy. No one, and I repeat, NO ONE has said one bad thing about Peterson. By my count, a lot of these experts have said that Peterson is the safest pick in the draft. I don't know about you guys, but safe wouldn't be a bad thing for a Bills scouting department that has had their fair shakes of flops.

First off, I'm a little sorry my prelude to the draft hasn't exactly been fulfilling. At least I don't think I've done a masterful job in hyping it. Honestly, I kind of overkilled it a month ago when there was nothing to really talk about, except for the lockout. Anyways, here is how I feel about the draft: Any player that the Bills select with their first pick,  should be met with absolutely no sulking. Look, take away the Bills draft busts over the last 10 years, and whichever player gets selected, you can only assume (or pray to God) that he will be a impact player. Right now, the Bills have so many needs, they may as well be a spoiled, high maintenance, rich girlfriend from Long Island.

Q&A about the Iowa prospects

Written by Joe on .

I'm still emptying out the Q&A's with a bunch of college football writers for bloguin.com, and today, I exchange some pleasantries with the fine folks over at The Hawkeye State. We talk about two of the top prospects for the Hawkeyes: DL Christian Ballard and safety/defensive back, Tyler Sash. This is a very quick Q&A, btw.
